Is There Such A Thing As A Bad Dog?

June 29th, 2009

Dogs cannot be bad; it is the handler who is poor. When you are taking a walk down a sidewalk, it is indeed disturbing when a dog grabs at your clean clothes. This can also happen when the dog next door leaves his tell tale marks on your front yard. These are bad dogs? Perhaps, but they are only as bad as the kids next door who have never been given a good upbringing.

What can you say about pets and kids who belong to homes where the adults are not responsible themselves? Sensible owners take the help of dog trainers who teaches them proper handling methods without breaking the natural spirit. Either you contact your vet office or pet store to get to meet a trainer or seek online help from a dog training book or from online dog training tips and tackle your pet problem before it goes out of hand. This training could teach owners how to be in command of their pets.

There is a saying amongst trainers however that it is far easier to train dogs than the people that own them! Dogs that must be leash trained for walking in public or at the park need practice; this begins around the yard or in a smaller location. Owner and other residents get irritated when these animals bark even if it is a typical occurrence. Remember when they bark, they are trying to communicate, so if you shout or punish on them for this, it will only result in puzzling the poor creature.

So why does a dog bark?
Well, just like a young child or baby, it needs attention, food or something to drink. A barking dog can also be a strong deterrent to burglars, so completely suppressing its bark might not be in your best interest. Remember not to promote barking when he is a puppy and then get all worked up when he continues to bark even more as he gets bigger. Any trainer can teach you skills on how to get the desired conduct from your puppy using the carrot as opposed to the stick.

How do you make your new puppy stop the undesired behavior?
Well, simply learn to reward him when he does something which is ‘desired’ behavior. There are many behaviors which are part of the breed of the dog so it is important to remember that you can teach your pet to go against these. The best option for getting certain specific behavior is to acquire your pet from a breed which displays those traits.

When does a dog become good?
Good dogs are developed by patience, persistence and kindness.

Coping With Anxiety and Panic Problems

June 29th, 2009

As an ex-sufferer of anxiety attacks I can certainly understand how it feels when one should occur. For me, they used to happen when I was pretty young, although I’ve also experienced them over the last few years and at several other times during my life.

My first experience of a panic attack was when playing football as a child. On occasions, when confrontations happened with another player or I got shouted at by people watching the game I could feel the symptoms of a panic attack. Though I didn’t realize at the time this is what it was, I certainly now know. Tightness in the throat, feeling like I couldn’t breathe and rapid heart rate were all too familiar.

More recently I’ve also experienced the same signs in interview or public speaking situations, and one thing’s for sure; I don’t want to experience them ever again. Learning how to stop panic attacks has been the best thing I’ve been taught. It’s given so much more confidence. The problem is that a lot of people try so many different techniques, but never find a solution. This is being there are different types of panic attacks and different types of people.

Finding a cure for panic attacks isn’t straightforward, but some familiar tips include getting enough sleep, eating the right kinds of food and controlling your thoughts and breathing.

Panic attacks typically last for around half an hour, though they can sometimes last several hours and even up to a day. Coping with panic attacks for such a long period of time can be difficult, especially if you have stressful situations in your life such as financial or relationship problems. The good news is that no matter what type of anxiety troubles you have, there is a solution. The links provided through this article have some excellent information well worth reading.

San Jose Sharks

June 29th, 2009

The San Jose Sharks are a professional ice hockey team based in San Jose, California, United States. They are members of the Pacific Division of the Western Conference of the National Hockey League (NHL). They play their home games at the HP Pavilion at San Jose.

Although Northern California was not considered a particularly fertile hockey market, the NHL’s 1967 expansion included a Bay Area team, primarily because the terms of a new television agreement with CBS called for two of the new teams to be located in California. Thus, the Oakland Seals were one of the six expansion teams added, but were a failure both on the ice and at the gate. In 1976, after nine money-losing seasons and continued low attendance, the Seals (renamed the California Golden Seals in 1970), partly owned by Cleveland businessmen George and Gordon Gund, were moved to Cleveland, where they became the Barons. After two more years of losses, the Gunds were permitted to merge the Barons with the financially struggling Minnesota North Stars (now the Dallas Stars). The Gunds emerged as the owners of the North Stars as part of the deal.

For their first two seasons, the Sharks played at the Cow Palace in Daly City, just outside San Francisco, a facility that the NHL and the Seals had rejected in 1967. Pat Falloon was their first draft choice, and led the team in points during their first season. George Kingston was their first coach during their first two seasons. Though the 1991-92 roster was primarily comprised of NHL journeymen, minor leaguers, and rookies, the Sharks had at least one notable player when they acquired 14-year veteran and former Norris Trophy-winning defenseman Doug Wilson from the Chicago Blackhawks on September 6, 1991. Wilson was named the team’s first captain and All-Star representative in the inaugural season.
